But- but cookware is exciting…

…I was just raving to my friend about my new electric kettle earlier today.

I will exuberantly tell anyone how fucking rad my kitchen knife set is.

And, yeah. Everything else on this is absolutely true, too.

I’m so tired of people telling me German is an “ugly, angry” language. When my German teacher tells us jokes it’s the sweetest, happiest language in the world. When I teach my father the word for daughter he smiles, repeating “Tochter” to himself until he gets it right, and in that moment German sounds like pride. There’s nothing angry or ugly about a language that never says goodbye, only “until we meet again.”

Fudge recipe on a headstone

I feel like I should make this just to be able to say a dead person taught me how to make it. Maybe I’ll do it for Halloween.

I desperately hope that she spent her entire life telling people that they could have her fudge recipe “over my dead body.”

That last comment is absolutely worth reblogging.

Happy Birthday Julia Child! The PBS icon would have been 102
today. Celebrate by watching our remix!

Happy Birthday, Ms. Child!!

"What makes a great chef? Well, training and technique of course, plus a great love of food, a generous personality, and… the ability to invent hot… chocolate… truffles."

I love this. Happy Birthday, Julia! Thank you for teaching my mother how to cook. She shared that love with her daughters, who are both excellent cooks in their own right.
